INGREDIENTS
2 cups Water, lukewarm
1/2 cup White sugar
2 tsp. Kosher salt
2 Eggs, large, room temperature
1/4 cup Crisco® Regular Shortening
1 cup PET® Evaporated Milk
2 qts. Flour, all-purpose
2 tbsp. Dry yeast, instant
As needed, Crisco Professional® Pan Release Spray
3/4 cup Powdered sugar
As needed, Smucker's® Strawberry PlateScapers® Dessert Topping
24 Strawberries, fresh
DIRECTIONS
- In mixing bowl fitted with dough hook, combine water, sugar, salt, eggs, Crisco® Regular Shortening, PET® Evaporated Milk, flour and yeast. Knead for 6 to 8 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic. (Dough will stick to the side of the bowl.)
- Spray separate mixing bowl generously with Crisco Professional® Pan Release Spray. Transfer dough to bowl, toss to coat, cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat fryer to 350°F.
- On lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8-inch thick. Cut into 2-inch squares.
- To prepare single serving: Deep fry 3 beignets for approximately 1 1/2 minutes, turning to ensure even coloring, until puffed and golden brown. Drain and dust with 1 1/2 teaspoons powdered sugar. Serve warm. Drizzle Smucker's® Strawberry PlateScapers® Dessert Topping over beignets. Garnish with 1 strawberry.
